This distinctive expression of Austria’s ever-popular Grüner Veltliner continues to impress. It reflects a further refinement of technique, using skin contact, barrel fermentation and lees ageing with care to reveal the grape’s full potential. In its second vintage, the approach feels even more polished, producing a more vivid and characterful wine.
After seven days of skin maceration, the juice was moved to seasoned oak barrels to ferment, before spending a further six months on its lees in tank for added weight and texture. The finished wine is bright, fresh and floral, with classic white-pepper spice joined by a clear fennel note. Zesty acidity drives flavours of lemon, lime and crunchy green apple, while almond and dried orange peel add further detail. Skin contact brings an appealing, gently grippy texture, leading into a layered savoury finish that complements the wine’s generous fruit.
