2005 Two Hands, Bella’s Garden, Shiraz 6L
Producer: Two Hands
Region/Appellation: Barossa Valley
Country Hierarchy: Australia
Grape/Blend: Shiraz
Wine Style: Red
Alcohol Content: 14.8%
Tasting Notes:
Deep purple-crimson, almost opaque. The nose is bold and expressive, layered with ripe plum and juicy blackberry, complemented by a subtle hint of cedar spice. Bella once again demonstrates remarkable depth and structure, balanced by an elegant purity of fruit. Matured entirely in French oak, with most of the wine resting in seasoned barrels, the approach is restrained, allowing the fruit to remain centre stage while delicate cedar notes provide gentle support to the plum and mulberry flavours. Fine, seamlessly integrated tannins lend a poised, linear framework, carrying the wine smoothly along the palate. Excellent length and persistence complete the experience.
Wine Spectator: Rich and complex, this is layered with green olive, mint, mineral and liquorice around a plump core of black cherry and dark plum flavours that linger on the intense and beautifully focused finish. Best from 2008 through 2017. – H.S.
